Almost but not quite…

…finished. I’ve been writing my current novel for a while now and it’s nearly done. It’s a bit like giving birth, one final push. Out of all the writing I’ve completed so far, this is the story I’m most sorry to finish. I’ve really enjoyed writing it, and because it came to me out of the blue, I’m still working out where it came from.

It might sound a bit corny, but it really did come to me in a dream. Since then, I’ve been researching the inner source of creativity, and the depths of the psyche in this process. The work of Robert Olen Butler was a starting point for this, with his ideas around the creative process being part of a Dreamspace. His youtube lecture is enlightening and entertaining and well worth watching.

I’m nearing the end of a first draft and looking forward to weaving in the strands that have emerged along the way. With a little bit of luck and good management, I’ll be finished by the end of March. It’s been a truly life changing experience that has made me realise where my life priorities lie, and I’m looking forward to the first read through this weekend.
