Creative break and new beginnings… happy holidays!

I’ll won’t be writing my blog for two weeks as I’m going on a creative break. Once a year I reward myself with a week to regroup my ideas and to enjoy the flow of story telling and writing. Because this has been a highly successful year for me, I’m taking two weeks.

The process of writing and publishing a book, making the transition from writer to author, and fulfilling a ten-year personal development programme successfully has been amazing and I fully intend to celebrate in style!
The upcoming holiday in the UK, where we have lots of bank holidays huddling together, and taking 3 days holiday from the day job means eleven consecutive days off work, is turning out to be an unexpected opportunity for me to have a long break and to devote time to really focusing on nurturing my creative self and to hone my narrative analysis expertise. Happily, I won’t need to spend an extortionate amount of money traveling to a remote cabin or retreat as my own life is designed to facilitate creativity – it’s right here inside me, and I don’t have to go anywhere to track it down.
My plans for my creative break are to finish my current novel and to write a non-fiction proposal inspired by talks with people at the innovation hub where I work. Being around innovative people has allowed me to develop a clutch of ideas that use my expertise to its full potential and I’ve finally rationalised my initial enthusiasm.
So, enjoy the Easter eggs and the Royal Wedding and the lazy days. Spring is a time for new beginnings and I’ll be back on May 3rd bursting with enthusiasm and hopefully a completed first draft!
