Think

I get notes from the Universe from Mike Dooley at www.tut.com. Keris Stainton put me on to Mike Dooley’s website and whatever you believe in, it can’t help but improve you life. The website itself in concerned with the Law of Attraction based on ‘The Secret’ which has a lot of good things to say.

Yesterday my the Universe sent me this note:

Think that it’s fun, Jacqueline, that you’re guided, and that all is well; that there’s time, that life is easy, and that the best has yet to come.

Think that the reasons that elude you will one day catch up, that the lessons that have stumped you will one day bring joy, and that the sorrows that have crippled you will soon give you wings.

Think that you’re important, that you cannot fail, and that happiness always returns.

And think that you’re beautiful, Jacqueline.

I do.
The Universe

Which is the exact opposite of what I usually think when I am fed up and worn down by life. It’s so easy to get bogged down and forget about the real loveliness of life. Plus, life isn’t easy, is it? There’s rejections and misunderstanding and self-doubt and sadness. Yet somehow, when the not-so-nice moments have passed, there is always a glint of light in that unexpected place – if you are looking for it with an open mind.

For me, positive thinking is like a comfort blanket. I fully acknowledge that I am someone who often pushes myself out of my comfort zone, with the inevitable result of not always succeeding in my endeavours. Positive thinking helps me get up and push again, and also to recognise barriers and limitations. Wrapping myself up in the warmth helps me remember that the most important validation is my own acceptance of myself – otherwise I am driven by delusion and false hope.

At the end of the day I try to remember that each moment is socially constructed and passes into a fictional incomplete history almost immediately. In my recent foray in to quantum physics I was stuck by the apparent implication that probability plays a big part in science and is based on individual sensory perception. In other words, it’s all created in meaning and words. A powerful concept, yet also liberating as it means we are free to create whatever reality we choose. I choose happiness and contentment.

What we think, we become. All that we are arises with our thoughts. With our thoughts we make the world. – Buddha
